The Idaho Justice Story Festival : Just Stories (October 7-8)

Just Stories is a two-day event featuring live storytelling and films from the New York Peace Film Festival. The event is designed to help bring peace and justice to our world through the act of listening and understanding one another.

Friday, October 7th will be a special Story Story Night on the theme of Justice.  
Storytellers include:

  • James O’dea - former director of Amnesty International & current co-director of The Social Healing Project.
  • J. Rueben Appleman - Boise author and filmmaker. 
  • David Nevin - Boise-based criminal justice attorney who represented Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the man accused of being the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks.
  • Maria Andrade - Boise-based immigration lawyer.
  • Niye Acosta - a Columbian refugee who now lives in Boise and works with Create Common Good in addition to being a part-time nanny and housecleaner.
  • Devi Kharel - a refugee from Bhutan and head farmer at the community gardens owned & operated by Create Common Good.

Saturday, October 8th will feature films from the New York Peace Film Festival
The schedule is as follows:

  • 1:00 – Children of Adam | 6 min
    Reflections on a visit to Iran and the American portrayal of Iran. Nina Aghaheikzadeh, filmmaker.

  • 4:30 - Free World | 39 min | Watch Trailer Now
    An 18 person delegation from the US travels to Hiroshima and Nagasaki to seek forgiveness. Directed by Ashley Michael Karitas
  • 5:10 - Twice Bombed | 70 min
    About 160 people survived both atomic bombings and late in life Mr. Yamaguchi became an advocate for peace. Directed by Hidetaka Inazuka.
  • 6:30 - Archies Food, Table Rock Beer and Wine
  • 7:00pm – Featured Film Fambul Tok followed by discussion with the President of the Fambul Tok organization, Libby Hoffman (via Skype) | 84 min
    Fambul Tok the film is the winner of the Human Spirit Award and Honorable Mention for Best Documentary at the  Nashville Film Fest; winner of Best Documentary at the Fort Myers Film Festival; and Best of Fest at the Global Social Change Film Festival.
  • 9:00pm – Drinks and Discussion “Forgiveness and Our Community”
